The Government of Zimbabwe's continued support to the Zimbabwe United Passenger Company (ltd) has contributed to the National's Vision 2030 stratedy of modernizing the transport system. His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe has so far commissioned 6 batches of buses which bribgs the total number of white buses to more than 500. His Excellency said that the continued commissioning of buses will undoubtedly contribute to the availability of public transport services in Zimbabwe

The governmet's bringing in more buses comes as a wayof ensuring that the work force does not waste valuable time waiting for transport The Government anticipates more buses to be assembled locally , as the President mentioned investors and Zimbabwean citizens having expressesd interest in doing so.

ZUPCO continues to grow as more buses are yet to come. The company continues with its Commitment to Safe, Affordable and Reliable Travel.

Zimbabwe United Passenger Company (Ltd) (ZUPCO) has partnered with the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) in introducing the Rail Passenger Services. This partnership comes as a way of alleviating public transport challenges for the commuting public.

The event of the ZUPCO Train launch was graced by the Honorable Minister of Local Government and Public Works Cde July Moyo and the Permanent Secretary for Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development Engineer Theodius Chinyanga. Speaking at the launch, Hon. Minister Moyo stated that the re-launching of commuter train by ZUPCO is a way to alleviate the burden on the urban working population and provide affordable transport services. He added that trains have timetables that assist travelling passengers in managing to catch it on time in designated train stops. The ZUPCO and NRZ joint venture shows a clear picture of the government’s commitment towards putting the commuting public and workers first because they deserve a safe, affordable, efficient and reliable alternative means of transport.

Mr Madangwa added that ZUPCO avails shuttle services from train stations where people are taken to their homes from the trains by buses. “There is no need for passengers to pay twice as they are able to use the same ticket on both train and bus. Train fare is the same as bus fare,” said Mr Madangwa.The ZUPCO train services the following routes; MARIMBA, TYNWALD, RUWA and COWDREY PARK. It also stops in main stations between these routes and the CBD.

Hon. Minister Moyo, in his final words, urged private operators to come and join ZUPCO to avoid competition. He added that in order to bring sanity to urban areas the government will work with law enforcement agents to bring to justice all illegal operators as they risk the lives of the commuting public.
